User-generated content is an increasingly valuable resource for journalists but also a potential source of well-intentioned missteps. In 2015 alone, terrorism, natural disasters and forced relocations brought traumatic first-person experiences up close and personal to journalists far from the scene. We’ll have a fascinating discussion on how to approach the ethics around UGC, with examples from recent breaking news events.
